Technology of Information

Spring, 2007

Professor Katherine Killoran

GSLIS 700 – The Technology of Information

“This course will introduce the student to the conceptual and practical elements of visual and computer literacy for the library and information science profession. Particular attention will be paid to the place and role of libraries and information centers. A laboratory session following each class will give students the opportunity to apply some of the concepts learned in class and to learn and strengthen basic skills” (Course Catalog.)

Reflections:

Even though I felt I had a strong technological background, this course served to re-enforce it. But what I feel I most appreciated was watching the professor teach something that was very foreign to many (very smart) students. I observed the frustration that can develop, and the patience and understanding that is necessary on the part of the teacher to respect all tech levels in a classroom.
