Info Literacy Instruction

Fall, 2008 – Professor Ping Li

GSLIS 790.03 – Information Literacy Instruction for Adults

“Instruction has long had an important role in libraries. It has generally been viewed as one of the three basic functions of reference services and has been growing in importance in libraries and other information settings. This course is designed to provide students with both a theoretical and practical foundation for functioning as an instructor within a library or information center.” (from Professor’s syllabus)

Reflections:

Intimidated at first by the level of the students (who were mostly already closely involved with teaching), I was inspired by the professor to create an Adobe Captivate tutorial on Boolean Logic, and collaborated with other students to create a bibliographic lesson plan.  Also wrote a paper called Library Instruction for Distance Learners.
